ABOUT ANTHONY

Anthony Pilcher is a Boston-based singer, performer, and educator. In the summer of 2025, he will perform the roles of Joe Aikens in The Stephen Foster Story and Max Detweiler in The Sound of Music with the Stephen Foster Drama Association in Bardstown, KY. Earlier this season, he was a Young Artist with Opera Saratoga’s Education Tour, a Vocal Fellow at Emmanuel Music’s Bach Institute, and portrayed Ben Upthegrove in Boston Opera Collaborative’s production of Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Telephone. In August of 2025, he will perform a concert of Mozart arias, ensembles, and Missa Brevis in F  with Woods Hole Cantata Consort.

Anthony was a mainstay of New Bedford-based Seaglass Theater Company’s 2024 season, appearing in their Armed Forces Day concert Stars & Stripes, the recital Not Afraid To Dare: Music By Black Composers, and their cinema concert Hooray for Hollywood.

 

Previously, Anthony performed the roles of Gideon March & Mr. Dashwood in Adamo's Little Women, Dr. Rappaccini in Catán's La hija de Rappaccini, and Jonathan in Heggie's If I Were You with the Opera Institute at Boston University. Other past credits include Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Marcello in La bohème. 

Anthony was the 2023 Baritone Vocal Fellow with the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago, IL, where he participated in free, local concert series throughout the Greater Chicago Area, and performed choral works such as Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Poulenc's Gloria, and Joel Thompson's Seven Last Words of the Unarmed with the Grant Park Chorus and Orchestra.

 

Other concert productions include: Dominick Argento's The Voyage of Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Adamo and John Corigliano's The Lord of Cries, and TROIKA: Three One-Act Operas (Rachmaninoff) with Odyssey Opera, and Berlioz' Le Damnation de Faust with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.

A Buffalo, NY native, Anthony holds a Master of Music degree from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College.
